Lol, I was making a joke. I find the new DmC really fun but I do think the new Dante is a real step down. Yes, I have played the previous games, except for DmC2.

no -_- capcom changed badass Dante into justin bieber Dante when the 5th game came out. the game wasent bad, but in my openion if you plan on sh***** on your main character you MUST have a hell of a game and i really didnt think dmc5 was that good.

Calling him Justin Beiber Dante is going a bit far. They did seem to try and make him act more like the old Dante (presumably after the backlash on just the Trailer) since he still doesn't give that much of a crap about fighting these gigantic monsters, but he's not anywhere near the degree of the old Dante, most likely cause they made it a reboot and wanted to do a more serious story. I thought the new DMC was fun. Personally, I didnt really like the styles from the other games, I had more fun playing as Nero in DmC4 with the devil bringer. The new system is actually kinda cool with how easy it is to switch between weapons during the fight, but most people just judge the game by the Dante redesign.
